We’re ready to go.

From a Pharmacia Biotech (now GE Healthcare Life Sciences) t-shirt I got during my lab days when I used PCR beads 90% of the time to perform a bajillion genotypes.

Welcome to Eye on DNA

by Dr. Hsien-Hsien Lei
Posted April 24, 2007 in DNA in General

in the labAfter two years blogging about genetics and health, it feels strange to be starting anew and having to introduce myself again. I’m hoping many of you are old friends who’ve come to visit my new home. In lieu of housewarming gifts, I’ll settle for some comments. Thank you. ;)

For those of you coming by for the first time, welcome! I’m Hsien-Hsien Lei, a PhD-trained genetic epidemiologist who has been keeping an eye on genetics, genes, the genome, and DNA since elementary school. I graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology and from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health with a PhD in epidemiology (div. of genetic epi).

Here at Eye on DNA, I’ll be keeping track of the latest and most interesting aspects of the genome revolution including the genetics of disease, personalized medicine, genetic privacy, genetic engineering, genealogy and DNA, genetically modified food, nutrigenomics, genetic testing, quirky uses of DNA, and practically anything else you can think of that’s related to genes and DNA. Please feel free to email me or leave a comment on any of the posts. I respond to them all as quickly as I can.

The genetic code may not hold the answer to life but there’s plenty about DNA to make life pretty darn interesting. How’s DNA going to change your life?

NB: The picture was taken in 1997 at Alan Shuldiner’s lab where I did the DNA genotyping for part of my doctoral dissertation.
