Genome BC’s Floyd the Fruit Fly

The Genome British Columbia (BC) Genomics Education mascot, Floyd the Fruit Fly, is dancing about at YouTube. Check out his introduction video below.

The Genomics Education interactive site for teachers and students has some interesting features, such as the Genomics in Everyday Life page with freaky computer generated people and sparkly stars that act as leads into more detailed articles about genes and DNA. I hope the kids dig down deep into the site and find the career profiles that include interviews with genetics industry experts, research scientists, genetic counsellors, and professors.

Thanks to Tris at Homely Scientist for the tip!
