Job Requirements:
Masters degree in genetic counseling; board-certified by ABMG or ABGC; minimum 3 years experience. Experience in counseling for adult-onset conditions preferred.
Job Description:
DNA Direct, the leading Web-based direct-to-consumer (DTC) genetic testing and counseling company, is seeking a full-time board certified genetic counselor. DNA Direct is committed to responsibly providing access to a wide range of clinically valid genetic tests, which is why genetic counselors play such a prominent role in what we do. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a dynamic team – including our medical geneticists, genetic counselors, scientific advisory board, technical and business staff.

Responsibilities include the following areas of expertise:
Clinical:
- Provide standard of care genetic counseling services for validated genetic tests utilizing web-based education, telephone and email interactions. Customer service includes: pre- and post-test education, informed consent, results interpretation, resource and referral identification.
- Work with subject experts and editorial staff to create content for new test offers and update existing content – for the website, key parameters for interpretation, and personalized reports.
- Generate and supervise quality assurance workflow for each consumer report.
Management:
- Manage genetic counseling staff – employees and consultants – and work with technical staff to create web-based educational tools.
- Manage interactions and relationships with CLIA-certified testing laboratories.
- Act as the point person for the DNA Direct scientific advisory board.
- Work with legal team to create and update consent forms and privacy policy.
Industry:
- Assess new products and services, and prepare evaluation criteria for the DNA Direct executive genetics advisory committee.
- Provide a clinical perspective to business development and marketing. Participate in strategic development meetings and ensure accuracy of information conveyed.
- Coordinate research protocols with academic and/or industry partners.
Public Relations/Outreach:
- Provide media interviews and facilitate interactions with consumers for public relations efforts, as needed.
- Speaking opportunities available to genetic counseling, medical, and consumer communities.
