- Mendel’s Garden genetics blog carnival will be here at Eye on DNA next Sunday, July 8. Please email me your submissions or use this form. Looking forward to reading your great entries!
- Steve Remington of Skinny Moose Media interviews me about blogging, which I believe is one of the most powerful ways of marketing yourself and creating a personal brand. Of course, the most important reason I blog is to communicate my thoughts on the genome revolution.
- Dr. Spencer Wells of the Genographic Project in Vanity Fair writes about using DNA to trace human migration Out of Africa. (via Tracing the Tribe)
- J. Craig Venter’s team at Synthetic Genomics have been very busy swapping DNA (no, not that way). They’ve genetically engineered bacteria that contain only synthetic DNA and behaved as predicted. They will be seeking patents based on these artificial organisms.
- Recessive genes–CRTAP and P3H1– have been found for osteogenesis imperfecta, which was previously believed to be inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion. The findings will have implications for genetic counseling and testing.
Update: Dr. TR Gregory at Genomicron is hosting the 10th edition of Gene Genie - The Canada Day Ultraspectacular Edition.
