Ads at Eye on DNA

When I started working as a consultant for DNA Direct in May, I decided to pull ads from Eye on DNA because I didn’t want any to pose a conflict of interest with either DNA Direct or my other objectives. At that time, I was running Google Ads which are contextual and auto-generated based on the content displayed. You can exclude ads but you can’t choose specific ads you want in the Google Adsense program (as far as I know).
But, although Eye on DNA is almost completely free of ads, my feed subscribers will probably have noticed occasional ads running in my feeds for companies like Life Science Portals or Symantec. I accepted those ads because they are not related to genetic testing and are not in competition with DNA Direct. Yesterday, I also accepted a one-week advertisement for Healia.com.*
As I’ve said before, I’m not against advertising and appreciate the revenue to help cover hosting expenses and books. I continue to consider offers for direct advertising but only on a very selective basis. Healia happens to meet my criteria and I’m happy to share their health search engine with all of you. I hope you find it useful!
*The Healia search widget is also displayed in my sidebar as part of the link exchange program.
