Kaiser Permanente Northern California Regional Genetics Website

During holidays my freshman and sophomore years at Stanford, I worked at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center as a pharmacy clerk. It was one of the best paying jobs a person with a high school diploma could get and the working environment was fast paced and always interesting (beware of angry patients missing their meds!). I also had a good experience for many years as a Kaiser patient.
So I was pleasantly surprised to find that Kaiser Permanente Northern California has a genetics website. There are sections on:
- Prenatal Testing
- Genetic Basis of Diseases
- Genetics Education
You can also search their staff directory and learn about the various patient services at Kaiser from cancer genetics to pediatric genetics. Even if you’re not a Kaiser member, you’ll find the site useful.
By the way, DNA Direct Clinical Director Cynthia Kane (my colleague) was Regional Genetics Education Coordinator at Kaiser Northern California and created much of what you see at the Kaiser genetics website.

Not so surprising, since KP has plans to build a DNA bank of its members?
