- Bayman at Bayblab is arming himself against DNA denialism. Think you’re prepared for the DNA denialists?

~ The Double Helix by James Watson
~ DNA: The Secret of Life by James Watson and Andrew Berry
~ Climbing Mount Improbable by Richard Dawkins - Jack Uldrich at The Motley Fool thinks genetic test developer Nanosphere will be soon be aquired by a much larger biotech, such as Roche, Abbott, or Becton, Dickinson. I first reviewed Nanosphere’s technology in June. Since then, the company has obtained FDA approval for a warfarin (coumadin) genetic test based on their Verigene System gold nanoparticle technology.
- New CBS TV sitcom, The Big Bang Theory, premiers tonight with references to DNA. The show features two “hyperintelligent scientists” and their loserish attempts at life outside the lab.
In the opening moments, the show’s two nerdy heroes visit a high-IQ sperm bank. Sheldon (newcomer Jim Parsons) wonders what kind of baby will result. “I have a sister with the same basic DNA mix who hostesses at Fuddruckers,” he muses. Sperm-bank-and-DNA talk in the first two minutes? That could be a record.
You can watch the trailer for The Big Bang Theory below. Check out the DNA helix model in their apartment!
