$350K definitely sounds pricey esp. when GenomeWeb reported last week that Helicos Bioscience claims that their HeliScope Single Molecule Sequencer can do whole-genome sequencing at 10x coverage in eight weeks for $72,000.

When Knome finally begins to sequence genomes (if they haven’t already), does anyone else feel like the $350,000 is already too expensive (i.e. too far above actual cost)?
