Greetings. That is my baby Quinn in the ultrasound you used in your blog! She is wonderful. I hope you are having good luck with your own baby girl as well. I found your blog through your link to my photo on flickr, and have enjoyed reading some of your writings. I myself am a biologist, on the ecology side. I went astray and became an attorney though. Keep up the good work and best wishes for your family!

Cheers,

That is a real pity. We shouldn't ban ultrasounds. However, I could support requiring parents who want to have a child to receive mandatory mental examinations.

You are willing to accept what ever child you have. But in our world their are many who do not want to accept that. In many areas ultrasounds have been banned because of the fact they indirectly kill the child. Some families may want a boy or a girl, they just do away with what they don't want. That's a real pity.

The following UK Parliament publication is incorrect....

"According to a UK Parliament publication (pdf), here are some of the reasons why a family may want to engage in sex selection.

There are several hundred known genetic diseases that affect only males – e.g. haemophilia and Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy."

Haemophilia is not a "males only" genetic disease. If a female received two ressesive genes, one from a males haemophiliac and the other from a female carrier, she will be a female haemophiliac.

Sorry the UK has it WRONG.
