Transgenic animals can be fantastical things. MIT Biological Engineering undergrads designed t-shirts featuring animals verbalizing in unexpected voices, including this turtle mooing.

Who knew MIT students had such a charming sense of humor!

Now here’s a DNA t-shirt that almost looks like something you’d find at Missoni (one of my favorite designers). The American Association for the Advancement of Science is selling this tee featuring the annotated gene sequencing map of human chromosome 1 in celebration of Science’s Breakthrough of the Year for 2007. The shirt is available for $22.50.

Make Your Own Geeky DNA T-Shirt
by Dr. Hsien-Hsien Lei
Posted January 8, 2008 in Geeky DNA T-shirts
Today’s geeky DNA t-shirt really appeals to the crafter in me. Three free genetics-related t-shirt patterns are available at the National Centre for Biotechnology Education at Reading UK: DNA code, RNA code, and GM beer label. All you have to do is print them out on t-shirt transfer paper using a colour inkjet printer (the outdated directions say dot-matrix). Hope you look as studly in your DNA t-shirt as this guy!

Geeky DNA T-Shirt: Christmas Star DNA

Less than four weeks to Christmas! (I don’t care if you don’t care because I don’t really care either.) Here’s the perfect thing to wear to all your holiday parties – the Christmas Star DNA t-shirt from Zazzle.
Don’t be such a Scrooge. Do you have the Christmas spirit so much it is in your DNA? Or do you just want a subtle, not gaudy shirt for the holidays? Big star with DNA made of small, holiday-colored stars in front of it.

Geeky DNA T-Shirts: DNA Is Life

Edmund Scientific has a good sense of humor! This geeky DNA t-shirt reads: “DNA is life. The rest is just details.”
Update:: Proof that I’m no biochem prof, Professor Moran of Sandwalk points out the egregious error on the shirt.
